Hooking up. I seem to get to it

Later, and later every time. No matter what I do, or plan. I end up hooking up after dark. We went to the grocery store after DW got off, and wouldn't you know. We had issues. And I didn't get home and get started hooking up until after 8. Finished around 10 and pulled the TT around to the front, and it started raining. At least it waited until I was finished.

I always bring our camper up to the driveway at least a couple of days before we are going to leave so that we can get everything done before hand. Then the day we are to leave just hookup and pull out. IN the spring if it is wet we may even have the camper in the driveway for a week before and after our trip.

We must be different. We grocery shop the day before and all non-perishables are always stocked. Luckily I'm able to keep my MH in the garage and plugged in. Even if we can't leave until late PM we are ready to pull out within 10 minutes of coming home. The delay is putting ice in the cooler for adult beverages.

Buy a light for your head it helps working in the dark. With the light on your head you will have both hands free to do whatever. Word of warning buy at least two or three one for you and one for the grandkids . I hide mine because I know the little buggers will find it.

I load the cold groceries the night before... Do last minute groceries shopping in the morning with the wife, we take her car... I get up early, drag the trailer to the side of my condo. Plug in ( I added a 30A service box to outside of my condo.

Truck stays hitched... Final loading, check the kit... Load the people in truck then buh-bye.

I know that buying firewood for $5-$10 an armful is ridiculously expensive -- we heat the sticks 'n' bricks with wood and buy it by the cord at home. But please, folks, don't transport firewood more than a few miles from where it was harvested. It risks expanding the range of insect pests that cause a lot of damage.

Please...this also applies in Ontario and likely the other provinces.

At provincial parks you can't transfer wood, however, you are allowed to take "cut offs"
This means any lumber used for building you may bring. Obviously no woods with glue, stain or treatment. Just cutoffs from dry kilned lumber. Due to weight we try to find a logging rd near CS and gather any they have left.

We enjoy not having to hook up anywmore with the motorhome. We can keep it in the driveway now. The TT we couldn'
t do to the slope and no braking. But the motorhome is doable. I pulled it up to the top of the driveway last night and leveled it. Filled the fresh tank and a couple jerry cans with water and plugged it in to start getting the fridge cold. Took maybe 20-30 minutes. Longest part was filling the fresh water tank...lol This morning on way home from work I will stop by grocery store and get the food. Will put them in the camper (5 minutes tops). And then go to sleep for a few hours. Then I will grab what other stuff we need (clothes) and put in camper. When wife is clocks out, we are off on our 5 mile journey...lol

More time will be taken putting the kayaks on my wife's car.

We leave groceries in trailer all the time. I just add items as needed. The freezer is always stocked with meat etc. We leave trailer plugged in when we get home so fridge things (basics) are always there.
Clothing and linens get washed and returned immediately after we return home.
Bathroom items are always in trailer. Basically we add extra clothing and ourselves.
On occasion we have picked up our fresh produc etc. on our way to destination. We usually need a break from driving so we stop and shop, LOL. As I said trailer is always stocked so it takes 15 minutes to shop.

One thing I love about an RV...if hubby calls home and says do I want to go away, I can be ready by the time he is home in 10 minutes. All we have to do is hitch up and within 15 of him being home we are gone...love it.

I almost always end up "hooking up" in the dark. Things work out better when the lights are off. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Really, two hours yes grocery put away also, must be a real relaxed process!

Ours is kept at a storage yard, we have a tote needed non perishable food, and insulated bags for perishable food for refer. We can be hooked up and on the road. With winter coming looking at a late start or two time to get a good set of backup lights on the 5er.

Can't remember how many times I've hooked up in the dark. I've done it so much I can do it with my eyes closed. Probably because I'm the ONLY one who hooks us up EVERY time we go out. After the first ten years I hear it gets easier.
