How to secure water fill inlets?

I just don't like having those accessible like that.

How about locking caps like locking gas caps?

Or how about a metal plate with two holes in it and a locking door? Unthread those caps; put the plate on; put the caps back on and lock the door.

Anyone ever seen any type of locking device? I wish all the RV makers would stop using this setup and put those inside of a locked compartment.

Try keeping your R.V. locked in a garage and never bring it out

As you read this forum, you will understand that there are plenty of childish people that patronize RV parks as well. If they could read what you wrote, then they would understand that you are in a different environment.

After you get rid of the antenna you need to put foil over the hole to keep the radio waves out.

If I were that concerned, I would probably install a hinged cover similar to the one on a typical water heater.

Locking water caps....:h

A couple of year ago I found myself camping next to a couple of meth addicts at Dash Point state park. Didn't realize how bad it was until the wee hours of the morning when one of them woke up out of his mind.
It got interesting to say the least. Didn't know whether to leave and draw attention to ourselves or stay put.
Haven't been back there since.

Why didn't you just call the police??? :h I believe calling the police should be the last resort but, in this case it sounds like it may have been in order.

How about a little squirt of WD-40 in your water system just for laughs? Just an example.

Has someone ever done this? I've certainly never heard of it happening.

Maybe if you do something to annoy the local residents but otherwise, this is borderline paranoia.
X-10, I have Never had this problem & never heard of anyone else having it happen. :h

Having worked on the farm all my life I have to add that a little squirt of WD-40 is not going to hurt you anyway. I've gotten some in my mouth a couple of times and it doesn't taste good but, it goes right through ya.

Besides it would be diluted down by your water supply. There is probably that much oil diluted in your drinking water anyway these days.

We only use onboard water for showers and toilet. We use bottled water for drinking and cleaning dishes. We rarely use the water tank. I doubt the energy and money spent to prevent an attack to my water supply is worth it considering the minimal risk. I have never heard of someone contaminating an individual water supply.

Seriously, if someone wanted to mess with your water supply, they could simply turn off your fresh water spigot, remove the hose from the spigot, empty some water out of the hose, dump dangerous liquid into the hose, reattach to the spigot and turn the water back on. The dangerous liquid in the hose would then make its way into your city water connection and contaminate your supply.

If you are that concerned about it, perhaps camping is the wrong way to vacation. What about messing with your tow vehicle, what about removing your lug nuts from your camper? If someone really wants to mess with you, they are going to. Its exhausting trying to live in paranoia...

I feel bad for the OP, but this thread is a hoot.

Rather than try to make the fills tamper proof, why not do some kind of tamper detection? The simplest would be masking tape over the ports, but you could get a pair of aviation type lock wire pliers and lock wire the covers down. Tape or lock wire broken - suspect tampering.

No that won't help at all. You need to cover the entire top of your camper with an aluminium foil hat. :E
