How to secure water fill inlets?

I just don't like having those accessible like that.

How about locking caps like locking gas caps?

Or how about a metal plate with two holes in it and a locking door? Unthread those caps; put the plate on; put the caps back on and lock the door.

Anyone ever seen any type of locking device? I wish all the RV makers would stop using this setup and put those inside of a locked compartment.

8, Yes read 'em, EIGHT pages of THIS arguably useless blather yet when a guy tries to give us good honest info on Tires THAT post gets deleted.

Where on earth is the common sense in that?

Now for the record I dont believe either should be deleted but the comparison is instructive.

Oh I remember! Even as a kid I thought it was strange that ol' Charlie was upset about not being caught and eaten rather than left alone in the ocean to live. Marketing at its best.

Yes, Charlie the tuna was not good enough to get put in a can. Starkist doesn't want tuna's with good taste, only those that taste good...

I think but, I'm not really sure, that the ad campaine was based on a movie where someone named Charlie falls in the water and turns into a fish. He then has to figure out a way to get out of the water to become human again.

Or, at least that was my take on it. I may be wrong?

I think it might have been Don Rickels or Don Knots but, I really don't remember. It's been a long, long, time. I was a kid and I may have gotten this all mixed up in my head.

"The Incredible Mr. Limpet", with Don Knotts.

Perhaps none of you have listened to teenagers telling/bragging about their antics...
I have heard of kids getting drunk and urinating in a water tank before, of course you wouldn't know if it had happened to you...

At least with a locking cap you would have a clue that it could have been breached...
Inquiring minds want to know...

Okay, buy a $20 door or a new rig with a locking door. Problem solved.

Thats because the Germans have their tanks filled with beer and the French & Italians with wine. :B

I think it is a good idea to have that protected, even if it is just behind a cheap plastic door like the outside shower. Keeps a drunk from deciding to use that as a urinal at the minimum.

Um,,,Um,,, well first of all a drunk could not stand up straight enough to aim that good. And , second, well,,, he must be a small drunk if he is going to get that in there.

Or, maybe I'm just bigger then everybody else. 😛

One time ages ago I was camped in Wisconsin Dells when a camper near me yelled at another about picking up after his dog. The guy was yelling and told the first one to go stuff himself. and walked away with his dog. The first guy (not the dog owner) picked up the stuff and went over and stuffed the p**p into the guys water inlet and put the cover back on. I hope I never made anyone that mad, but I have a 2 gang weatherproff cover bolted over my inlet and locked.

If I wanted to I could p@@ 4ft up into a water inlet-not bragging just a fact-However, last I checked, urine does not hurt anyone although it might amuse some.

That said there is a wasp here in the SW (maybe in the whole US for that mater) which makes a nest in small caliber holes, like the breather tube on the fresh water tank, I have had up to 6 inches of nest in my breather line. I use a brass gun barrel brush as a plug in the breather line for that reason. If I had a door on the inlet that would not be a mod I would have needed. So while not needing a lock a latching door might be nice.

My last TT would get a wasp nest in the breather hole. The TT I have now has a fine screen that fits into the hole to keep bugs out. I could have added one to my last TT but, I didn't know they existed

I would be much more concerned abut the batteries or the propane tanks being stolen, not some water inlets being tampered with!
