A 850 H.P. John Deere diesel vs. a steam tractor rated 18 H.P?
It's all about torque and traction... enjoy

My GE 6000 HP locomotive with 200,000 ftlb of tractive force will outpull your little JD tractor. It only weighs 432000 lb.

HP= how fast you will push a brick wall.

A torque value by its self does not tell you anything about the capabilities of an engine.

Man, that's great. Can you just post that every time people start arguing about HP vs Tq?

Better yet tie a 15,000 lb trailer behind both and head them up a 12% grade and see what would happen.

Horsepower is king and will always win as long as traction is not lost.

It has nothing to do with torque or HP.

It has everything to do with traction and weight.

Who do you think was going to win with a steam engine that weighs 4x's??? as much as the little doe Deere? Get a tractor of the same weight and see what happens.

Yep pretty much sums it up, this is why gassers rev on hills and diesels don't.

That and the weight advantage of the steamer over the tractor, once traction is broken it is all down hill.

Those larger steel wheels with studs don't hurt any either. Good video.
