Here in the West this heat wave is apparently going to last all summer and into at least September. How are you all coping?

I had been boondocking and running my generator for the AC but it quit on me last week and I can't get it fixed until the middle of next month! Meanwhile, it's RV parks and campgrounds with electric. I drove up to nearly 9000 ft. the other day hoping to cool off and it was still hot even up there! :E

$750 will get you a brand new 4500w Champion inverter generator that should easily accommodate your air/con.

Reality is they haven't got a clue what the weather will be much more than a week out.

See the pre-season hurricane forecast. It's nothing to be off 50-100% on the number of storms and that prediction is almost as likely to be high as to be low. That suggests they really don't have much of a handle on long range forecasting.

Finally broke down and bought an iq3500W gen. It was long overdue as we have in the past stayed home when dry camping. 90*-100* in a 5th wheel or TT without air is brutal. Even though here in Oregon it cools down a fair amount at night it was getting old for us oldies having to shower or do some light cooking inside the trailer when the inside is as hot or hotter than it is outside.

Really impressed with the gen. I got a sound meter app for my phone and @34' the gen is 62db on eco and with the 13,500 AC running it's the same exact 62+/-db's.
It barely revs up when the Ac's turned on.

Upper 70's and dry in the Colorado High Country (I live at about 9500 feet.)
Very nice in the summer, but we pay for it in the winter! :E

Ask them about adding a mini split system, sometimes its cheaper, and can give you a heat pump option in milder cool weather.
It will both heat and cool, totally independent of the existing system.

I'll corroborate. We live in the inland northwest less than a hundred miles from the Canadian border and we're currently enjoying the 90s with days of triple digits due in the near future. That's unheard of this time of year.

I'm not home. I never stay in Yuma in the summer. Just sayin' it's hot everywhere in the west.

WE camped on an island in the Mississippi river last Thursday to Sunday. Boondock no power or current bushes available.
96 degrees Thursday and friday was 90. The generator helped alot.

Yuma, what do you expect. Move somewhere cooler. Hawaii is great never too hot and never cold.

So was this just a rant, or?? You supposedly can't find a small engine mechanic for basically a month. You know it's not blown up (or you wouldn't be tanking it to a mechanic presumably). And you're going to spend basically what it would cost to buy a new generator to stay in fhu campgrounds?

Not being sarcastic, but you have options. Less expensive options, including getting a little resourceful and getting your generator fixed...

Even buying a generator would be an almost free endeavor. Just sell it, or your other one next month.
