This isn't to say some of Germany's laws are bad. In fact, some should be used here, such as having the yellow light come on before a green so one can wake up and get ready, to having to have supplies and a first aid kit.

This nanny stuff has gotten way out of hand. Personally, I don't care what Germany requirements are. If the Nannys get their way you will have to be certified and permitted operate a fork and spoon. It is just about there now.
Evidently the nannys were never let out of their play pens as kids and Mother has to chew their food for them. If they would mind their own business wee would be far better off. Driving a semi doesn't require a masters degree either. a few miles of driving and a lot of backing up practice is all that is required. The bulk of Semi Driving Courses is about government regulations, driving time, rest time, log books, and so on. Nanny should take one of the courses. Of course She or he would be scared to death and wouldn't do it.
If everyone doesn't start shouting down the Nannies, or Porch Sitters you will be required to have a Nanny holding your leash 24/7.
I love this post!! ^^^^^ I wish they had a like button on RV.net. ๐

By the logic in a couple of these post there isn't a need for Semi drivers to get CDL either!!!
I don't like government regulations any more than the next guy, BUT being able to drive a 26,000# vehicle combination on the same license that is needed to drive a Yogo is a bit on the illogical side!
The Feds require that you have a motorcycle endorsement to ride a motorcycle, it seems illogical that someone operating a vehicle that weighs at most about 1,000#, needs an endorsement, and one that is moving 26,000# doesn't.
My guess that the reason there isn't the push for the RV license is that we just don't cause enough accidents or deaths!!
Well standard drivers licenses don't prevent car accidents either!
If you watched the latest ABC 20/20, they had a story on Trucking. Not the best reporting as normal now day a bit of a rating thing, BUT there was the driver calling in to his dispatch center from a Truck Stop reporting he was dosing off and needed to get some sleep. The driver was told by three different dispatchers to get back on the road! We all know this isn't the norm, but I am sure also this is not an isolated incident.
Don't worry, if you are ever in an accident while towing, the finger of blame will for sure be pointed at you because you were pulling a trailer.

well in MD as well as many states the same license is required for a yugo or for a 26,000 motorhome....
I have to differ with you on this issue Bump. Maryland does require a Class B endorsement for a vehicle over 26,000#. (It's a pound sign, not a hash tag!)
you could differ with me but you would be wrong. ๐
I said that the standard Class C license works for a yugo and for a 26,000 lb. RV. won't work for a 26,001 rv.

C'mon man. I was only off by one pound.
I stand corrected.
it takes a big man to admit he is wrong.
