Cr@p, I suppose some committee in D.C. will specify exactly what should be in this first aid kit. 1 dozen band aids, 1"x3", etc. then if you use one and get stopped before you can replenish, 3 points on your license. but we could adopt their speed limit, or lack there of on the interstates.

Germany's requirements work because you can get anywhere in their country without a car, which is impossible in most of the US. I see that on a lot of other forums, people from other countries who assume their way -must- work in the US. Well, if their ways have worked here, they would be adopted here.

What we need are fewer regulations not more. Instead, I personally think people should (and this is not a must) look at investing in drive cams. Enough people out there on the roads that will be happy to toss their cam footage up on YouTube for a DA or plaintiff attorney to look at, and it will put a serious damper on bad behavior.

If done right, the fear that someone texting and causing a wreck, with the video displayed in HD for all to see will do far more to stop the idiocy than almost any amount of laws passed would do, combined.

The article linked to in the OP is full of false statements and the author based his argument of those false comments. So first he starts with false comments and arrives at a facetious conclusion.

I suspect the Germans may need more regulations in their society than we here in the USA....

A piece of paper does nothing for the safety of the traveling public, a doctor has a very rigorous licensing but there are over 200,000 deaths each year in the US attributed to medical malpractice.

The issue is just another attempt to increase taxation on the people under the disguise of a false need.

Having a class A CDL did not stop a semi driver from running his semi into the rear of another one all the way to his sleeper on I-65 last week. The accident closed the north bound lanes for over 6 hours. Oh by the way the driver was nor seriously hurt. How would you liked to have been stuck in that mess?

Well standard drivers licenses don't prevent car accidents either!

If you watched the latest ABC 20/20, they had a story on Trucking. Not the best reporting as normal now day a bit of a rating thing, BUT there was the driver calling in to his dispatch center from a Truck Stop reporting he was dosing off and needed to get some sleep. The driver was told by three different dispatchers to get back on the road! We all know this isn't the norm, but I am sure also this is not an isolated incident.

Don't worry, if you are ever in an accident while towing, the finger of blame will for sure be pointed at you because you were pulling a trailer.


well if you are towing a 40 ft Teton with a S-10 pu it might be your fault.

Mr Porsche dealer gets my support as soon as they amend his legislation to include special licenses for high performance automobiles. They have statistically way more accidents than motorhomes. Hence why the insurance on one of his $100,000 Porsche's may run a driver $12,000 or more a year, yet that same exact driver can easily insure his $350,000 motorhome for around $3,000 a year.

Should a regular driver's license be good enough to drive a 100,000 dollar plus Class A motor home?

Well, With his suspended (or Revoked) "Ops" (regular operators license) Joe booze bag can go out and drop a hundred or two on a getto beater and go flying down the road 90 MPH and crash into a mini-van killing the mother and children inside (See note below)

If he does he's out a few hundred dollars (plus fines, court costs and such)

I'm sitting in a hundred grand worth of ride you better believe I'm taking a whole bunch of care.

Promised note:
In the actual accident Joe Booze Bag (not his real name but it was his Blood Alcohol Level) was not driving a 200 dollar getto beater but about 20 somthing thousand worth of Denali SUV... The accident was less than a mile from Where I sang in teh church choir. And two of the children killed were students of our lead Tenor.

So I did not make the accident up.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.
2005 Damon Intruder 377 Alas declared a total loss
after a semi "nicked" it. Still have the radios
