Might as well it's winter and I'm bored :B. So we already have the barking dog thread. Let's get it out of our system. Did I miss any? What gets your goat?

You tell me yours I'll tell you mine

The people that feel the fire pit is a garbage dump sna leave it full of trash and cigarette butts. Also, the butts that are scattered all over the campsite. They are not slobs, they a filthy pigs.

Ooh, I have a new one! After a day of heavy rain in the Orlando area, we've discovered our site is on the "low" end of the RV park. Wading thru ankle-deep water to walk the dogs, then drying them off has been a pain....

Number 1 for me would be the construction site generators. On a recent trip, I had a neighbor in the next site with a Honda - we barely heard it. But the guy 5 or 6 sites away with a construction genny was driving us to distraction. Plus he ran it 3-4 hours a day! Even though we are perfectly happy to dry camp, more and more we select CG's with hookups just so we don't have to listen to noisy generators.

Second would be continuously barking dogs, but fortunately that is not something we've run into very often.

Overall, I would say I find most campers to be very respectful of their neighbors.

I just have to ask:

Why ARE you there?

I like my microwave, I like my big screen tv and if I feel the need to respectfully run my generator that is exactly what I will do.

And, respectfully, why don't you do it out of earshot of others who don't share your vision? And again, why did you leave home?

Top of my list is generators. For some reason too many people think that to enjoy the outdoors they need to have a microwave oven and a television and an electric coffee maker and an air conditioner. This luxury items have become a necessity in their mind.

The number on reason to get out of town is to have peace and quiet and listen to the sounds of nature. To have an internal combustion engine running for hours to provide 120v AC for appliances destroys the atmosphere for everyone else in the area.

It is why I prefer parks with AC hookups to many "boondocking" campgrounds where people insist on firing up their generators in the morning and again in the afternoon and evening. It is why we have a truck with a slide in camper that will fit in areas where motorhomes and large travel trailers cannot.

It's amazing how a few awning lights and other similar knick-knacks get so many people psychotic. I like mine. Sorry if I ruin your vacation!

Twice now, we've been parked next to RVs who seem to have kids taking Klompen Dancing lessons in the trailer??? LOL!!! We don't say anything - they're having fun and we're in bed after THEY go to bed ๐Ÿ™‚ We're just amazed at how far the sounds of kids stomping around in an RV can travel....

I usually am not a complainer, even about the 38 degrees and rain here in south TX. But things are going down hill. Last week good friends left for AZ. What does the park management do, moves (drags) a disabled old motor home next door. Covered in tarps with a whole bunch of stuff on the ground. Tomorrow our other good neighbors are moving and one of the park employees is coming with their old crappy motor home along with a few hundred plants, nicknacks and a pet DUCK! My two hunting dogs are not gonna like that. We may move..

What really gets me is those quiet dark campgrounds with no pets and kids and friendly neighbors... If I wanted all that peace I might as well stay home...

I really like people singing, kids playing, etc... at a distance. I have rough camped nearly my whole life so RVing is very new. My RVan seems to be well insulated and I dont have a problem with noise altho I have my TV on inside. RVing is more like where I live in a big city with neighbors close by and have learned how to get along nicely. I been lucky, good neighbors, good RV camping. My only real problem is wood smoke as I have asthma, but then I go inside and turn on the air conditioner which filters it out. Couple years ago I was absolutely gobsmacked by people sitting around a roaring blaze in the 100oF heat.

DO YOU REALLY THINK A BIRD WILL COME ALONG AND EAT IT OR SOMETHING... NO! SOMEONE HAS TO PICK UP YOUR NASTY MESS!

Actually, it has been shown that birds that pick up the butts and use them to build their nests have babies with a much lower pest load. The nicotine left in the butts leaches into the nest and kills skin crawlies on the baby and adult birds. Nicotine has been a commonly used plant insecticide for a very long time.

That being said, as a smoker I break off the filter when I am done and tuck that into a pocket to ditch it at home cause I dont like looking at them either.

But it is my understanding that everything that has been complained about so far is OK if it is a Wal-Mart parking lot!!!

Walmart would do well to start & sponsor an annual event & name it "TO THE WALL"

Something along the line of Sturgis, but with RV's only & everyone gathers for a weekend of loud genny's, loud music, loud children, barking dogs, lots of beer & FUN !!!!

Got to go now, I'm on my way to talk with a Walmart manager. :B

While reading these posts to my DW out load, she says: "Kids and dogs are only as smart as their owners".

That statement pretty much explains SOME unacceptable behavior.

You left out generators and porch lights.

If you have to light up your campsite like an airport runway all night you have a problem.

Amen to this. Their fear of darkness invades my solitude with light that blocks out the stars in the sky and removes the blanket of dark nights from my otherwise nude body rendering a sight that invades my camping neighbors tranquility. :E
