Time to hang it up.

After 58 yrs of camping due to health, our traveling days are over.
We had many great & wonderful trips.
It has been a great run.
It begin with a 1959 Ford SW, using it as a camper, with a trip to CO.
Follow by a 1955 Ford SW with a tent. Then a 1973 Ford SW, with a
15 FT. trailer. Then a 1983 Ford Van as a camper, follow by a 1990
Dodge, class B, sportsmoble. Which we just sold.
It was a sad day to see it go down the road.
We have seen most of the USA and had plans to see it all, but time
ran out. What we will miss, is all the friendly people that we
encounter on our trips.
Now as Paul Harvey would say, "The rest of the story."
I had the good fortune to work for 40 yrs at TWA,
as a Avionics engineer, retired in 1991.
We had a great opportunity to see the world.
One trip around the world.
21 trips to England & Europe.
5 cruises, 5 trips to HW.
You can see, that we just walked our legs off.

And I hope that while you have to give up the extensive traveling there will be some other pleasures of life that can fill the void.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's a reminder to all of us that time and good health are limited and precious commodities.

My wife and I are still able to enjoy camping, plan to both retire in two years and hoping that we'll have a few good years of decent health to enjoy some of the things you've mentioned. We do the best we can to take care of ourselves but tomorrow is not guaranteed. Neither is a healthy tomorrow. Enjoy it while you can.

Took a camp trailer on our honeymoon, been at it for 50 years come Sept. Plan on a 4 - 6 mo. trip this fall. Will hang in there till health catches up with us too. Sad that you are having to hang it up but always have the memories in the front of your thoughts.
My feet are fine as long as they are traveling.

Very sorry to see you go but it looks like you traveled well and can be proud of it.
Best of luck in what ever you do.

We finally did it for health reasons a few weeks ago. Truck was the last to go week ago. We did not make it as long as you did though. We only lasted 42 years.

Sounds like you led "the good life". At 74 I know the "Sunset Days" are approaching and I'm probably foolish to think about getting into the Class A game at this late stage, but then again I've never been accused of being overly smart... Good luck to you.
