Welp boys...I was able to make it 2 yrs with my 2014 Ram 6.4L Hemi. It was a great truck and did a fine job toting my 5th wheel all over the southeast...BUT

The bug finally got me and I upgraded to a loaded 2016 Laramie crew cab 4x4 Cummins. And the only question I have is WHY DIDNT I DO THIS SOONER?! What an amazing truck! Ive had it a week and already put over 700 miles on it. This is the truck of my dreams. I dream about it. I work from home, so as you can see from 700 miles in a week, Im looking for any excuse to drive this baby.

The engine...its incredible. My brother has a 2012 Ram Cummins, so Ive had some exposure, but its not the same as having my own. The power is mind boggling. I'll be towing the 5er on about an 800 mile round trip the 1st week of April so Ill follow up with a more detailed report.

I dont have a lot of pics, but Ill post a couple in a few minutes.

For the OP: Congratulations on your new truck. I too have the Gas Ram and I cannot imagine the diesel towing any better in real terms than this truck does. (I often pass the diesels on long upgrades with similar sized trailers)

But having said that I drove one the other day and immediately noticed it didnt have the sheer acceleration my gas Hemi did....

But I would be very interested in knowing how yours compares towing your trailer...especially up a long steep grade.

I would especially like to know what your EIS says about the fuel mileage.

I am still debating this and running figures on it.

BTW Please name that dealer. I dont think there is any rule against it.

Congrats on the new TV. I've got a 2014 Ram Cummins Turbo Diesel and LOVE it.

It does beg me to ask a question, if you don't mind please. The cargo capacity of my 2014 is only 2100lbs, so I wouldn't be able to tow your 5ver because the tongue weight dry is more than my 2100lb cargo cap. Mine was used, and someone had a 5ver, or at least the hitch in mine.

So, curious what the CC for your 2016 is? Mine is a 4WD, short bed as well.

Again, congrats on the new TV.

Mike

Yo, payload is only so low to keep it under the 10klb gvw for a class 2 truck. All that means is your truck weighs about 8klbs.
Real world capacity of the coil suspension is more than that, but softer than 3500s in general.

Congrats!!

Once you go diesel it's rare anyone goes back. Been driving them since the 80s and apart from my track car I won't drive anything else.

Very likely right. I got one of those "deals" once, went straight to the bank got a cashier check for not a penny more and was back within an hour looking for the keys.
After getting the bait n switch for almost 8 hrs, they called me back up and said the truck was "ready."
It was, only somehow the price had gone up about $5k from the papers I signed that morning! Fuggers played me to have a backup plan to hit their quota for the month and obviously got there with another sucker, customer, sorry, without having to sell me a new Mega Cab for $15k off the sticker price.
Let's just say, I almost went to jail that night, a sales manager almost went to the hospital and my bil who was just along for the ride had the most entertainment he'd seen on a Fri night in a long time!

We went with the short bed again as they didn't have anything on the lot that we liked for a long bed.

We have two kids an 8 year old and a 10 year old, plus one 65lb lab mix doggie. Plenty of room but the kids already saying they miss the reclining seats.

I'm not trolling - just asking because I'm currently exploration a diesel Ram 2500/3500.

My question is what is the payload of your new TV? Thanks!

2016 Big Horn 3500 Cummins ...unfortunately Crew Cab
But Cummins baby.
Amazing just driving it around town can't wait to get our 40' 5er behind it and see how it does!!

You'll enjoy that 8' box when hitched up :W Our 70lb Samoyed was about the only passenger we traveled with, he didn't bit*h a bit about the crew cab :B
Now if you have a couple of teenagers with a dog back there it would be different I suppose. Of course my parents just put my brother and me in the bed of a standard cab truck back in the 60's :E

When I was a kid "welp" was just normal talk.

As far as the southern thing....I am from "South" Jersey, so I think you are right.

BTW, A "well" has wooder in it. :B

Congrats on the new truck. Believe it or not, I am doing the exact opposite going from diesel to gas. One of the trucks I am interested in is a 2500 6.4
Could you give me your overall impression on this motor, mpg etc.

I am down sizing from a 5er to a tt and don't need the f350 anymore. Thanks
