2500 Ram payload

I am buying a Ram Outdoorsman crew cab with the 6.4 Hemi and 4.10 axle. The Ram website states the payload is 2926. Does anyone know if this payload is true? I worry there is some small print or something I might be missing.

Thanks

On this 2013 Ram 2500 towing chart it's interesting that all the diesels have a GVWR of 10,000# and most of the Hemi engines are 8800#. So, were there different frames? Or was Ram just afraid to rate a diesel truck with 1500# or payload? Or, a Hemi at 3000#?

Also, interesting that throughout the chart "Cummins" is spelled as "Cummings". I guess I have to stop laughing at people calling it a Cummings diesel ๐Ÿ™‚

In 2013, the 3500's got the new frames and front and rear suspensions. The 2500 didn't get the new, more heavy duty frame until 2014, which could be reason in the upped GVWR'S in 14' as opposed to the 13's, (were still like the 12's when it came to the frame.

To have payload that low, it'd have to be a diesel. OP is running a gasser which is about 800 lbs lighter for the same 10,000 GVWR that 250/2500 series trucks are limited to.

Wow! Didn't realize that the diesels took away that much.

According to the ram 2500 towing and payload charts the diesels are about 1000 lbs heavier than the gas versions

My 2014 SLT with the 6.4 and 3.73 has a sticker of around 2,980 (give or take a few pounds).

2013, RAM only offered the 5.7 HEMI. The OP is looking into the 6.4 HEMI. Also in 2013, the 2500 series trucks still used the old Frame, it was only the 3500 series trucks that had the upgraded frame that we see in all the trucks today. Logically, I have no idea why the payload on the 5.7 was de-rated so much unless if they softened the suspension of the gassers by a lot. But this is on the old frame and I have no clue, as I never considered RAM until I read about the frame upgrade for the 2013 3500's which I now own.

See the newer sheet here 2014 spec sheet

Good catch on the "Cummings" bit.

Yes, with the redesigned frame in 2014 for the 3/4 ton's the payload increased as the GVWR went up to a full 10,000 lbs for that model year.

Thanks everyone. It looks like my truck should have about a 3000 pound payload. Someone sent me the pdf below which is helpful.

I checked the door sticker of a 2500 Laramie with a diesel engine the other day and it was 2090 lbs. That included five passengers.

If I remember correctly when I purchased mine in 2014 that was the first year with the 10,000# GVWR. Previous to that they were 9000# with the 5.7 Hemi. I'm thinking the diesels must have been higher as the payload would have been ridiculously low otherwise.

My 2014 is an Outdoorsman 4X4 CC 6.5' bed and the door sticker is just over 3000# - I think it's something like 3032#. Yeah, the diesel really does take away some payload.

Mine is a '14 CC.

The 6.4L Rams have a higher GVWR rating than the 5.7L Rams, but don't carry the extra weight of the Cummins. So if you see a 3000+ lb payload on a 2500, it's likely a 6.4L version.

My truck has 3001 on the sticker. It's a Laramie trim, can't imagine a outdoorsman would have less payload unless it's a Powerwagon or a diesel.
