7 Pin Trailer Connection falling out of TV outlet

I have just picked up my new TT Avenger 35 RDS from the dealer. When dropping off my new trailer at the storage unit. I had to stop two times to make the 7 Pin connection. It falling out of the connection. Is there anything that I can do to stop this from happening?

Me too. I now have an outlet in the bed of my truck and I trimmed the excess wire so it won't happen again.

Another possibility is the cord is too short.I ran into this pulling a borrowed trailer. Every time I turned left it unplugged the cord.

I always connect and disconnect a few times before I connect to "clean" the contacts a bit and then make sure the cover secures the cord. I had some trouble when truck was new getting it in far enough to latch, but after some usage, it latched fine and stay connected. I carry the mini bungees and would use that if needed.

I have a similar issue as the O.P., but it is not a matter of pushing it in hard enough. I can really but pressure on mine and it will back out a bit. Not enough to fall completely out but just enough to loose contact. I replace the one on the TV, been contemplating replacing the end on the TT.

I always make sure that the clip on the lid is holding the plug in.

I had a similar problem where the umbilical came loose behind my motorhome at the connection from the car 7 pin connector. My remedy is to use velcro strap to ensure that the connection stays firm. 5 years of worry free connection. My issue is the umbilical is heavy duty cable like used on trailer trucks and is very firm and always has spring tension. My fix works great for us. I use velcro straps at both ends of cable. Is the plug actually falling out of the connection, or coming loose and almost falling out? Most plug receptacles have a hinged cover that has a lip on it that will grab the plug, preventing it from falling all the way out.

A plug can still come a little loose, though, and also some of the connectors inside the plug can get worn.

But... with your trailer being so new, maybe the plug came from the factory defective? Replacing the plug may solve all your issues.

If all else fails replace the receptacle on your truck. I would suspect that the spring on the lid of your present receptacle is broken and won't hold the plug from the trailer firmly.

X2...You've got the same "Blade" type connector as I do on my 2014 Ram...

Make sure the trailer is a "Blade" also...

You're trying to spread the female blades open and insert the males...It's a tight squeeze so the connector stays on...Work it gently but push hard and it'll sit nicely...They mate real solidly...

They use to snap in place with strong lids with the older models trucks. I know my 2010 model Ford does not do this very good as well,

I use the small bungee cords to hold mine in place as well...

I just wrap the bungee cord around the cable an pull tight to hook into the two side eyelets that most of the trailer hitch receivers have.
