Any real Chevy mechanics on this board?

2006 Chevy 2500HD - 6.0 - Automatic - low miles.

When I bought this truck the dealer had just replaced the code P1101 - Mass Airflow sensor.

Check engine light was out and everything seemed fine.

Now, the check engine light comes on every time I drive it.

I replaced the sensor one more time and the light still comes on every trip.

Ideas?

Delco parts are generally cheap enough online that I never go aftermarket unless I have to. I'm always having trouble with fitment of aftermarket GM parts.

Good to hear it was a (relatively) simple fix!
Fwiw, I've found that ALOT of aftermarket "stock" parts from pretty much any parts store, even the "good" one like Napa and Carquest are somewhere between questionable and poor quality.
To the point that unless it's an emergency repair or a quick fix that I'm not concerned with longevity, I now pony up for OE parts or quality aftermarket parts in most all cases.

The MAF I got from O'Reilly would not keep the light off. Bought a DELCO OEM and that fixed it. Spent a fortune on shop labor though. These mechanic shops are proud of their work now..... whether they fix it or not.

Glad you got it figured out. Same thing happened to me - MAF went bad, replaced it with another from Autozone, still had the same error code. Looked all over for air leaks, had a mechanic look at it...nothing. Decided to get a MAF from O’Reilly and that fixed it. Haven’t had a problem since.

Update:

Finally found out what was wrong...

The first MAF went bad and replaced it with a cheap-er replacement part.

Last mechanic had great test equipment... showed that the replacement part was bad also.

He installed a DELCO - OEM part and it's worked fine since.

I should have bought the OEM part the first time... lesson learned.

With the engine off I'd remove and reinstall the fuses. I've run into o2 snsor codes that were caused by slight resistance in the fuse circuit. At 12 years old connections can become an issue.

If you still have a p1101 code, and you put a second sensor on it and STILL have a p1101 code, then they misdiagnosed it.

Sounds like a wiring issue. Maybe an intake leak.

Definitely not a gas cap...you would have an EVAP leak code if it was the cap.

Yup, but if me, I'd make the take back the MAF and refund the money paid.

Then the decision is to let them continue to work on my vehicle or not...to fix whatever is the 'real' culprit part/system/etc...

Sounds like vacuum leak.
Try spraying air intake and manifold areas with starting fluid. If the starting fluid is sucked in the engine should rev up.
Could be TPS but it may or may not throw a code.

BenK - you know how mechanics work. If the MAF they put on is bad, it is in warranty. If they find anything else wrong, I pay way more.

The intake gasket and knock sensors were replaced in October. A different code issue then.
