Need New Tires

Hey Guys,
I have a 2014 Ram 2500 Cummins, need new tires. Was wondering what ya'll have found to be a good fit for towing and tread life. Had Michelin LTX and only lasted about 50k miles on my last TV.

My guess is the hi mile guys run em to the wear bars. Those last few 32nds wear very well and don't go away near as quick a s the first half of the tread.



This is my thoughts as well. Traction will always trump tread wear for me. The Winters are too tough, and the consequences too high to run high mileage/low traction tires. That is why I will never buy a set of Michelin tires. I am just about to pull my NITTO EXO Grapplers off, getting the last miles out of them and when the real snow hits I will put the new ones on. I have just over 50K on them. Very happy, excellent traction off road and in snow, decent on ice/snow packed roads. I pull heavy and a lot so to see 50K out of this tires I thought was very good. Probably could have got to 55-60 if I was going into Summer and not Winter.

I've had good results with Cooper Discoverer ATP on my 2500 RAM.. good compromise for off road use.

I personally find round tires are best.......Square ones doe not roll as good.

WIth that, I've found Cooper or Toyo are the best from an all around standpoint. Michiblows are one of the worst!

I like my Michelin LTX got a little over 70K on my 3500 Dodge should have gotten over 80 but had a nail close to the side & they would not patch. If I was home I would have put a plug in & keep driving. I rotate every 5K & I thinks that helps a lot for mileage. Yes I put Michelin's back on, also put Michelin's on my caravan.

Same here. More expensive on the Michelins and less mileage. Shop around a find a good price on the Toyos. Some places offer free shipping on Toyo tires.

Working on my second set of Michelin LTX. Got 90,000km out of my first set. Hardest thing on tires according to the tire store guy is the high torque of the newer pickups. My 2013 F350 diesel has about 800ft/lb of torque. Love the power, hard on tires.

Cooper AT3. I have around 70k miles on mine, will get me through until next fall, so probably 80k. I only tow 2,500 miles a year, about 12,500 a year total miles.

Nitto Terra Grappler load range E tires on my SRW trucks. Stiff sidewalls and good grip on and off road. Get about 40-50k a set.

Firestone Transforce AT

I had 2 sets on my old truck and put a set on my '14 RAM 2500 this summer. I've had good even treadwear, excellent traction, and about 55,000 miles out of each set. I know that mileage doesn't break any records, but for the traction you get that's pretty good life.

Though not the same truck, I had Michelin LTX 18's on my Ford F-150. This summer I replaced with Yokahama YK-HTX. So far, I've got about 10K miles on them and couldn't be happier. Hopefully they will last the 70K miles like their advertised.

I've used the LTX, like them, but I've seldom got more than about 35K miles out of them or any other tire. One set got 40K. Good news is that I got them from discount tire and tread wear warranty got me big $ back on next set.

LTX tread life was comparable to Toyo's I had run before, stock Goodyears went about 30K

But then my truck isn't the only vehicle we have that has tires that don't go near treadwear warranty life.

Towing is murder on tires. The Michelin's will probably do better longevity wise than anything else as long as you happy with their performance. I have to drive a lot in the rain and they were way too slippery for me.
