Are there any quality RV manufacturers?

I bought a Crossroads Toy Deck TH last year, and I am not at all happy with the quality of materials and workmanship. It is an inexpensive unit, so I figured I kinda got what I paid for and decided to sell it and get a nice 5th wheel garage toy hauler.

We have looked at Fuzion, Road Warrior, Cyclone, Voltage, and now Torque, and I see the same shoddy workmanship in these $40,000 - $80,000 units. Shelves and cabinets coming apart and falling off. Doors not straight, screws at odd angles or stripped, drawers with bad or missing keepers, sawdust and scraps everywhere. I can't believe what some of these RV manufacturers deem ready for public consumption.

I didn't like what I got with the Crossroads, but over the last year and a half I have worked through a lot of the issues. I am almost to the point that I keep the crappy trailer I know, rather than dump a substantial amount of money in another crappy brand new piece of junk.

Does anybody know of one manufacturer who shines above the rest? Failing that, is there a dealer in the Salt Lake City, Utah area I can trust?

Add me to the list of very pleased Grand Design owners. Closing in on one year now and NO issues at all. I did have one small water leak near the selector valve while dry camping and had to remove the panel in the front compartment to see what was going on. I was more impressed with what I didn't see. Absolutely no scraps, sawdust, trash, and the like left over from production. I've had issues on our previous Raptor and know what it can look like when you remove access panels. Replacement of a cracked fitting from the hardware store and good as new.

Would not hesitate to recommend them.

Quite happy with my KZ MXT. Almost two years old, about 50 nights per year (motorcycle racing) and no issues whatsoever.

Take a good hard look at the Northwoods Desert Fox line of Toy Haulers, very well built and heavy duty etc.

+1 on the Grand Design Momentum line. We recently bought a 380TH that we will be full-timing in. While we've only been in it a couple of weeks we are very happy with the fit/finish.

We have a fairly large dealer here in NC that sells a lot of Featherlite and ATC. They said they much prefer the ATC on race trailers and horse trailers because they're excellent quality and their willingness to custom build for a customer.

For quality you need to start with something that has a chassis designed and built to commercial standards.

Check out InTech and Featherlite goose neck trailers. They do much more high end customization which allow for living quarters with slide outs and dedicated garages in any proportion you need. We were seriously looking at these prior to going the truck camper route since they have a lower profile yet much stronger chassis than conventional toy haulers. These are built on horse trailer and car hauler platforms.

No.

I (probly most of us) could write a book carping about lack of quality, lousy workmanship, problems.

Will make one comment, from DW actually, on our last trip to the shop: "I'm SO glad we got an expensive 5er. I can't imagine the problems we'd be having if we bought a cheap trailer."

We have an 05 Cedar Creek 5th wheel and have been quite satisfied with the quality of it. That said, I understand the newer ones have had some issues. Ever since Warren Buffet bought Forest River!!!

I'm also somewhat curious about the Work & Play Catalyst. I know lots of the inside stuff is the same as some others buy now that we have our "regular" Work & Play, I wonder if the Catalyst will be even better.

But its really darned heavy.

Of all the campers we've owned in the past ten years, the first was $17,500, the second was $28,000, the third was almost $60,000, and the fourth was $27,500.

The $60,000 Cyclone was by far the sorriest piece of junk I've ever seen. The first two were awesome and this fourth one is starting out really well so far.

I consider my Voltage to be a quality trailer. I looked at all the other brands and found the least desirable workmanship was the Heartland Cyclone with obvious quality control issues.
