ATT GoPhone ----Anything Better??

Travelling from ETex to Albuquerque to get cool, our GoPhones had no service at all from just west of Amarillo to just east of Albuquerque. I know these pay as you go phones don't necessarily get to use all the towers.

Is there a better option? Better coverage? Also, ATT makes you add $25 each 3 months to the phone and we don't use that much normally. Do some of the other pay as you go phones let you just buy minutes as you need them and keep them however long until you use them?

AT&T and Verizon both have prepaid for $100. Not sure how many min but it is good for one year.

My wife has an unlocked T-Mobile phone on AT&T GoPhone service. Coverage when camping is not good, but my phone is on Verizon, so she can use it.

I have a tip regarding refilling GoPhones. We buy our refills HERE from an eBay seller, and only pay $22.95 for a $25 refill, and no tax. Since we usually had to pay sales tax when buying refills elsewhere, this saves us about $5 per month. Been refilling that way for months now. As well as $25 refills, they also sell, $10, $15, $50, $60 refills, for what I believe are similar discounts.

That is odd. When we are off the beaten path my wife's Verizon rarely works and my ATT has a strong signal.
In fact even when on the beaten path or at home ATT is the winner.

Straight Talk on the Verizon network - now $45 for unlimited talk, text, and 5 Gb of 4G LTE data per month. No contract. Straight Talk uses ATT, TMobile, and Verizon carriers. If the phone you are purchasing from Straight Talk at Walmart is a CDMA phone the carrier is Verizon - and there will be a red US map on the package. I have not seen a better deal on a Verizon phone - not even from Verizon;s own no contract plans.

X2. My phone is the LG Optimus Fuel that I bought on sale for $10 and I buy the $19.95 90-day card from Tracfone. Uses Verizon towers. Reliable cellphone service does NOT have to be expensive.

Don't know what your total costs are running but just a suggestion,
Consumer Cellular uses AT&T network. We have two smart phones with 750 minutes, 1500 texts, and some data (we rarely use so don't know how much). Our total bill for two phones is $39 month.

NO CONTRACT. The pres of Consumer Cell says they need to earn your business every day, not lock you into a contract.

They can work with just about any AT&T compatible phone. They also sell some phones and prices are pretty reasonable.

They also have cheaper plans. We've had them for over two years. Great customer service and have always had coverage.

I can say that if you want something cheaper your pretty much OOL. There are some weird ones that are sold on line or in Walmart and one of those may be cheaper but I carry one for emergencies not to save money. I thought I get the "Unlimited" plan from Verizon because they seem to have the best coverage. Now I have a proprietary phone I hate and can't even give it away.

If you come up with an e inexpensive plan to compliment the AT&T plan, please let me know.

Anything that uses Verizon network will be better for nationwide coverage

I don't know about the ATT Go phones, but I do know that we have had great service on our Straight Talk phones, but that's $45 every month, which is not what you want. Ours use the Verizon towers and we have been pleased with great to good service in 95% of the places we go. 4% has limited service and maybe 1% has no service.
