Cleaning AC filter

When we wash our AC filter and it dries there appears to be lint still stuck in it. Does anyone know what we are doing wrong and/or how to get rid of it?

I buy the Duck brand A/C filters at Walmart for $1.00 enough to cut and fit for three filters

Same here. With as inexpensive as they are, I never even considered cleaning it.

The reason it appears that lint is stuck on the filter is because of grease.
it nd dust are stuck on it. It tries to roll up if you should try to wipe it.

To prevent it we seldom cook with oil in the coach certainly t high temperatures. water vapor in whatever is being deep fried and the grease combine to coat everything. We put paper towels over the stove vent on the convection/microwave above the stove and splatter screen on top of the pot or skillet and turn the vent fan on, nearest kitchen. It sometimes suffers a build up and I have to take it apart to get the screen out to clean it. Some newer ones the vent screen pops out without having to take whatevr I have to take off to get to the screen. Don't have to do it often enough so that I remember what.
Just throw away the filter and cut a piece from the cheapies at WaL Mart.
Just make sure the filter media is thick enough and the stiffer he better. The edges of the plastic trim hold it in place.
They also have some with carbon something or other in them. I don't know if they would restrict airflow too much or not, given that on low settings, in high humidity some ACs freeze up.

Air flow is essential to efficiency for these air conditioners so keep it clean. The filter in the picture is way too dirty. I also just buy the cut to fit material and replace mine with new one at the beginning and at mid season. when you start seeing dirt collecting on it its time to replace it. It doesn't take much to slow the air.

Wipe it with a dryer sheet before reinstalling it. Cut down on the "static cling".

Seriously; it helps.

Brush it off first with an old hair brush or vegetable brush then wash.

Wash it often. Use a small amount of dish detergent in the water and rinse thoroughly. This will disperse the stuff that sticks to it. Replace as needed.

I buy the cut to size material as well. Even Walmart usually has it.

You are not doing anything wrong.
We do ours the same way, but after it dries, just use a fairly stiff bristle brush to go over it to get the remaining lint off.
Just make sure you don't tear it with the brush.

I lay mine on the grate (like in picture above) and blast it with the hose. The grate lets the water go through the foam. Then I wash the grate. Haven't noticed any lint still on the filter this way.

X2. I also buy the cut to size material and replace my filters every now and then.

Lowes also carries the cut to fit filter material.

I bought a bag of the foam filter material at ACE.
My return filter is roughly 5" X 12"
I cut out several filters then swap out a clean dry one for dirty one.

Dirty one a place in kitchen sink with soapy hot water....then using kitchen faucet sprayer I blast it clean.
Ring out and hang in shower to dry.

Repeat at least monthly. When a filter stretches I toss it.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

the filter is very easy and cheap to replace. might even be the cheapest item at a rv store.
