This doesn't just apply to this subject, but many others. If something is illegal, will your insurance company cover your losses.
This applies to propane, no-toad brakes, overweight vehicles & improper drivers licence. A conversation with your insurance company might not be a bad idea. I don't think a judge will take into consideration that a conversation on the internet is an excuse. YMMV.

It is impossible to prove a negative but that is what you are trying to do. I've never seen it happen, therefore it doesn't. I don't know what added risk there is to running with a pressurized system and lit appliances verses a shut off system, and neither do you. I have never told anyone not to use propane while towing but I have told them I don't and why. What surprises me is that when anyone suggests there could be another side to this discussion, they immediately get ganged up on, told they are talking nonsense and being alarmist wimps. So my question is, why so defensive?
Serious question here ------ do you drive a car or truck Powered by GASOLINE ????????
Have you ever started your car NEAR FUEL PUMPS ??????
Have you Ever seen the ARC/SPARK when engaging your starter ????
As a Retired Firefighter --- I know Gasoline Vapors are Present near Gasoline Dispenser Pumps.
And -----you dont DRIVE WITH propane on --- because its "Safer",,????:h
Yes, I don't drive with propane on because it is safer, how much safer, I don't know but neither do you. What's your problem with someone saying they don't drive with propane on and why they don"t? Why do you react so harshly to the suggestion? Why are you so sensitive about it? What nerve does it strike when someone actually says they do something different from you and gives a reason for it?
So Wilber
Why is it when someone dis -Agrees with your opinion, and states FACTS ----YOU GET defensive ?????
Why Are YOU so sensitive
What Nerve does it strike
You seem to be attacking people whos Opinion EXPERIENCE differs from yours?????
Why so defensive ??????
I have almost 30 years in the FIRE SERVICE that PROVES its SAFE to Run propane
I have been to MANY CAR fires at gas stations ---- yet I believe MANY PEOPLE ( including yourself)...drive cars which are PROVEN to explode.
I guess I ( and Thousands) of other RV's must be missing something ?????

We leave the car running. Costco demands you cut it off.
The engine is at one end and the fill at the other. Smoking and filling a no no.
Cellphones not generally a problem but I've seen long sparks from just dry air, plastic shoes and starting to touch around the filler cap or door or other parts, of the car.
Usually there is no problem but touch the car with the other hand and insert the nozzle, maybe. One time I felt the charge build up and travel up leg then body and down arm finger then bang. I had no idea that static charge would build that slwoly, such as a second or so.
Wife didn't like it won old plastic seat covers. You could count on a charge just about every type movement then slowly approach her with the finger and zap.
Both Shell Canada and Costco say it is the law in Canada because the National Fire Code requires it. Same goes for not smoking near a pump.
I'm surprised static isn't more of a problem, the law requires aircraft to be grounded before refuelling.
With aircraft, both the aircraft, and truck if used are required to be grounded and I too have often wondered why they don't have similar requirements for autos since static sparks will likely be in the area of the nozzle and subsequent fumes if they occur.
I've often found it interesting how the recommendation on how to ground aircraft keeps changing over the years. Sometimes, the guidelines are connect aircraft first, then attach to the ground point since it is a little bit away from the aircraft most of the time. Then they change it to earth ground point fist since it is down low where the fuel vapors might be, then connect to the aircraft. They seem to change the recommendation every decade or so.
