The family is done.

After our last trip the family sat down and broke it to me that they are done Rving. I've been camping for 46 years and this probably is just ending one chapter and opening another. So it's time to sell. I tried Craig's List and got one semi interested hit and many scams that strung me along for a week until just stating that they'll buy it sight unseen. So I guess it's time to pay for a more legitimate site. Where do you look when searching for class A gassers? I'm thinking RV Trader but figured I ask here first.

I've only been RVing for 3 years, but camping for over 62. Been married for over 44 years and camped all the while. (The only way we could afford vacations.) Our RV experience is limited to a SportsMobile pop-top with minimal inside luxuries. We have a microwave, if there's shore power, and a porta-pottie, water can and coolers. Do Most of our cooking, eating, and living outside (you know – camping!). We don't get on the road for much more than a couple of weeks at a time, (health issues), so the B is perfect for us. But never want to give it up. Too much to see and too many nice folks to meet.
Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

If the family wants to quit RVing, does that have to include you? 🙂

When looking to buy, I prefer craigslist. I don"t like dealing with professional sales people.

Craigslist works, just don't answer emails or text messages and say that you won't in your ad. Only answer a phone call. Cuts back on 90% of the scamming.

I tried to sell my 10 year old motor home via Craigs List, ads in the local paper, and several forums. Two months and no offers. Took it to a large local dealer that takes some consignments. He sold it in three weeks - picked up the check yesterday. He gets 10% and takes care of the financing. It sold for about half way between NADA low retail and average retail.

While you list it on RV Trader, also park it somewhere near a busy road (we just put things we want to sell at the edge of our yard) with a big FOR SALE sign in it. Also hang a sign on the bulletin board at your local hardware store, etc.

Sold our previous unit via ebay. Took great pics and video. Couple bought it sight unseen (had a friend in the area verify in person) and paid to ship it to themselves.

I feel your pain, but as you say it's a chance to start another chapter. I owned boats for 21 years, then one day my wife and I looked at each other and said, "lets sell the boat and get an TT", we went with a dealer that does a lot of consignment sales, and it sold the first day. We got a trailer and we're enjoying camping, though at some point we're going to get some kind of small boat, we just miss really fresh salmon and crab too much.

Craigs list, RVtrader.org, RVT.net - they are all fine.

This is the worst time to to try to sell at any used camper at a decent price.

If you don't wish to keep it over the winter to hope to get a better price in spring, then price it near what a dealer would give you in trade. It will sell, and some dealers may just buy it and let it sit on their lot till spring.
