It rained really hard several weeks ago. This is PNW rain, relentless and a lot of it. Neighbor has a new caretaker with a class MH. He had it parked on the driveway but our yard light must have bothered him so he decided to move it. In the driving rain. he backed it into a culvert along the driveway, sunk the 2 rear passenger tires in the mud up to the axles, leaving the front driver's side tire up in the air. Then, we had freezing weather. It took him almost a week of shoring the rear up with timbers and rugs and digging to get it out. He used an old SUV to pull it. We offered to pull him out with F250 but it would have been tight and the old SUV was a better fit to maneuver around trees and shrubs and the narrow driveway.

Actually, this is one of those times when imagination might be better than pictures, especially for those of us who have 'been there and done that stupid thing". :S

I drove off with the power cord still attached this past summer. The cord was destroyed and cost $150 to replace.

I was going to unplug the cord, but realized I needed to go inside and turn off the air conditioners first to avoid arcing when unplugging. I went inside and turned off the A/C units, but forgot about the cord and just jumped into the driver's seat and took off.

Got the breakaway cable wrapped around the pin release when leaving a campground. Made a sharp turn to get onto the freeway access and locked up the trailer brakes in the middle of the intersection! Only thing so far.

We haven't had the motorhome long enough for such fun. But I'm sure it won't be long before we customize it.

On our fiver... we had a plastic tailgate (one of those designed for 5ers) on the truck which developed an issue about staying up. It came down and dragged itself across the front storage door.
On the way out of the repair shop with a BRAND NEW DOOR, yup, the gate fell and we didn't notice and ruined it in less than 5 minutes. That was Door number 2.
Mentioned to DH that perhaps that tailgate needed to be dumped - literally. And he agreed but of course, didn't react..
SOOO...during a camping trip a month later, it happened again. Door 3. The repair shop thought this was all quite amusing and had our part number handy at all times.
And yes, the stupid tailgate is history.

Gotta have a sense of humor with this lifestyle.

(1) I was lost in NY state with my truck camper. While looking for route signs I must have missed a low overhead warning. I went around a sharp bend saw an overhead sign but before it registered on me that I would not fit, I was under the bridge and my air conditioner did not make it.

(2) Out for a quick weekend with my Class C, I decided that I needed to back up a little to better level the rig. Did not put the hatch to my large storage compartment down. A tree tried to help. Made for a short weekend as I traveled home with no door on storage compartment.

(3) The latest and maybe the dumbest happened as I was preparing my unit for winter storage. I bought some RV antifreeze and put it on a shelf with a half full bottle from last year. As I was pouring in the half gallon it appeared that the "antifreeze" was very thick and of a strange color. Turned out that I had used the jug from last year to drain some old oil from my garden equipment. What a mess.
I was lucky that I did not pump any of the oil through my system but it took a lot of Tide and many flushes before I got it clean.

On third awning on a 2005 DP. First one...forgot to secure rolled up...wind unrolled it on I40 near Needles. Second one, pulled in to tight driveway at home...backed up to reposition...crunch ensued...damage to awning arm and to tile roof. Ripped off refrigerator vent cover on low tree branch. Recently...turned before clearing"pivot point" and tore off three compartment doors on drivers side on fuel pump barrier post. Was in shop for over five months. Just got it back.

Packed the RV early morning in the dark and thought I would pull around front of home to add on the cargo carrier and cooler. Walked around the RV in the dark looking at the exterior but NOT looking down enough to see that the electric was still plugged in. Pulled away and pulled the connection plug right out of the RV. Easy remedy....I made a series of spring clothes pins with several notations on them....Electric...Water...Antenna, etc. and place them on the gear shift so I see them before I put the RV in gear. Cheap and easy fix to an embarrassing and costly mistake.

I put a Dirt-Devil in an overhead cabinet on my old TT.

It knocked the cabinet door off on its way out. Whoops!

The most stupid thing we've done and in my opinion something everyone should not do...overload the rig with as much stuff as it can hold, which is way more than we could ever use! Not anymore...went through emptied cabinets, lower bays, drawers, every little nook and cranny that held stuff we didn't use...now we are riding high and light!

Less is best and happily so!
