What would you add to your RV experience?

Just curious. What would you add? I am talking of the overall experience, not a new washing machine or tech stuff! For instance, what could parks provide? If you had your druthers, what would you wish for?

In MN the state parks say that no alcohol is allowed.

I hear that it is not strictly enforced.

I don't go to the state parks very often but, when I do it is during the off season, I find a secluded spot, and I keep my beer out of sight.

Are you really serious here? A Ban on Alcohol?

So I cannot enjoy my glass of wine and cheese plate I have so often?

I cannot have a bottle of wine in my Camper?

I cannot enjoy a cold beer after a long hot hike?

What I hope you mean is a ban on Drunkeness, loud and unruly behaviour after quiet hours?

Yours is a slippery slope proposition.

I'll also agree on this one. I'll drink a Redds Apple Strawberry on a Saturday or Sunday, and I'm not afraid to admit it. I don't really like regular beer, but Dos Equis isn't bad on occasion. But I've never been drunk and have no desire to do so.

Wanting to ban things for everyone based on what some people do is a symptom of fear. Acting out of fear isn't usually the best course.

I'll agree with that. Maintain what you have, and have what you advertise.

I'd be happy with a list of amenities that work. If the place has a pool and it is not usable, then don't mention it. Similar with bath houses and laundry facilities. If it is advertised, then it should work.

After reading all the posts so far it occurs to me that if all the folks that complain HERE about the loud, the unruly, the feral kids, out of hours generator use and all the other problems would complain on the spot to the right authority be it Ranger, camp host or park manager the above behaviour would decrease dramatically.

It does seem to me that many people are so adamantly non confrontational that they will allow almost any bad behaviour by others to ruin their time in a park or RV park.

The other night here in this RV Park a new camper pulled in behind us after dark and were so incredibly noisy I thought it may be an invasion of some sort. Later they woke me up at 11:30 sitting outside talking. One woman had a voice that could cut steel. I waited a bit and it stopped. At ONE FIFTEEN AM I was woken again by these folks, loud talking slamming of doors etc.

I stepped out of my camper in my "T" shirt and Boxer shorts and stood there looking at the woman and Said: "You do realize it is after one in the Morning?"

Her response: "I am taking my puppy out" And I replied "Well please do it quietly"

I never heard another squeak out of them the four days they were here. Had they been loud again at an inappropriate time I would have gone to the manager.

If more people did the above there would be fewer problems overall. People would learn that no matter where they go their bad behaviour will not be tolerated.

I'm sure it bothers the wilderness pundits to no end but I'd like to see reliable Wi-Fi connection much more universally available, no different that offering shore power or on-site water on some sites.

X2!!!

Absolutely correct. RV Parks are without a doubt the most backward tech challenged businesses in America. And I made your argument in a post not long ago that WIFI in the 21st century is an infrastructure no different from Water, Electric or sewer.

Stop with building another "Pickle Ball" court and give me fast reliable WIFI.

The majority of these responses is why I avoid trailer parks like the plague. If I had my druthers my TT could go where my Truck Camper could!!!

More time under the awning relaxing. Not tending the fire, fixing the bikes, playing games, filling the water tank, dumping the tanks, or a kabillion other odds and ends. Always getting up to put out some fire or other. Sometimes it's not so relaxing.

RV Dumps and (especially) fresh water fillups should be more common. It would be nice to not have to pack the water and not stress over whether it's there or not.

I would happily pay more for a dog-free or generator-free zone. Or add a fee for those items and use it to better police things.

All web sites that talk about the camp sites MUST post the length of each of the camp sights.

If wifi is listed in the amenities, it MUST WORK at all sights.

State parks reservations system and site sizes. Campers these days are a wee bit bigger than our grandfathers 24 footers. As to the reservation, eleven months out is too much. Here in Florida it is difficult to get a reservation 30 days out.

I sometimes like to dry camp in places that are quiet and spaced well apart from everyone else. Very few places like that in my area.

What's a Druthers ?

I'll be dry camping for almost 2 weeks this summer.
Thanks for the reminder to add "druthers" to my packing list!
My druthers would include a vegetable patch on the island....

Heckenspeck! Even in "Nu Yawk" we know what druthers are....snigger.
