50 Amp Surge Protector

I do not have a Surge Protector at this time, I do have a homemade plug-in that checks voltage and if it's wired correctly. My question is, since I have 50 amp service in my TT, about 1/2 the time I have to use 30 amp plug-ins with Dog Bone adapters...

Ready to buy a 36' Coachmen Catalina. Our truck has a maximum weight of 10,200 lbs. 80% of tow weight would be 8160 lbs. Hitch weight of trailer is 800 lbs. Dry weight is 7881 lbs. Would this be a safe load for our vehicle? Appreciate any help.
