I have been RV camping for almost 15 years, but still haven't found a consistent way to arrange or configure my "stuff"

Here's a photoshop diagram of how I arranged my site last time:

How do you guys set up your stuff?

All I set up is my kitchen up and then a couple of chairs. I will sometimes put the pop up awning over my kitchen. The grill gets turned by 90 degrees if the awning is up.

I have a large patio mat like you, 8x20'. We put a 3x6' folding table where you have the chairs and mini-table. Unless it is raining, we do not sit under the awning. I have another 9x12' patio mat the I extend from the bigger one that we put the picnic table and screen room on. We have a no shoes inside the TT policy, so walking around on the patio mats bare foot really helps us.

This is me! I don't even try to set up the outdoors. I do the mechanics of getting set up, then sit back.

Sorry...That campfire looking thing is the BBQ. I couldn't find a very good picture to do my mock up. Also, the grass is there just so the background wasn't white. I haven't been to many, if any, campgrounds that park on grass...usual asphalt or gravel.

Man, it doesn't seem to matter what you post on this site, some people always seem to be self-righteous nitpickers. sorry

Surely you are used to it by now. There are definitely some that want to criticize anything and everything. Those are the ones that never do anything wrong.

The first thing that wouldn't work at most parks is the big rug on the grass. If you are there for a couple of days, that is going to leave nothing but dead grass for all of us who arrive after you leave. Rugs and mats on grass is frowned on most places. Even if there isn't a rule against it, it sure makes for a less pleasant experience for the next people.

Regular carpet will kill the grass, but not the woven polyethylene rugs sold specifically for camping. Here is what the grass at our site looked like after a week last summer - the rug actually protected the grass from the hot sun.

Now the next camper on that site will have to contend with two toned grass! Way to go! And did you ever think what that will look like from the planes passing over?

I was just wondering what campground this was?

The only thing that's consistent with my setup is the 6' folding banquet table that goes under the awning right next to the door. This is where I put the electric 2-burner stove and my iPod boombox. Usually the coolers go on the other side of the door from there. Everything else depends on the site.

When you take the kids camping, everything gets rearranged anyway; no sense spending too much time on it. I really miss those days! (We're empty nesters still waiting for the first grandkid to take camping...)

We're pretty happy with our outdoor living area. Nothing to the setup anymore. Drag the picnic tables to where I want them, extend the awning, grab a couple of lawnchairs. Everything has a place. Done.
