Driveway camping at my own house

I'm gearing up for my second night of sleeping in my truck camper in my own driveway. My beloved wife is working on a big presentation for next week and very stressed out. She's a very light sleeper to begin with but the added stress has made her even more prone to waking up at the slightest perturbation. For about the past week my allergies have been acting up and I've been snoring quite a bit more than usual. While I am usually banished to the sofa, this time my snoring is so loud (according to stressed out Mrs.) that I took the next logical step. I actually don't mind at all and it's sort of fun. I'm just hoping that might betrothed doesn't get used to this and decide it's an ideal set up. Then again I've got a fridge and a TV and a bed and I can snore all I want. So that's something to be thankful for on Thursday. Hope you are having a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.

We camp in our TC in the driveway all of the time in between puting her back on a separate piece if property in between camp trips. A great place to watch movies on the flat screen and get away from the kids.

Sleeping outside in the camper at home has been done by us many times in the past. However, I will say it is not as much when you've rented out your house and are there to do some work on the house and storage shed etc. A little weird camping on your property with tenants inside your house. But hey, we had to drop things off we didn't need, pick some things up we didn't take, and rearrange a bit more to be able to get to stuff more easily.

One thing of note, we needed to switch out DTV receivers and get things updated and merged down to a single receiver, so we had the DTV guys come up and install and old HD dish on the garage and wire it straight to our RV parking spot so now we have an aligned and permanent HD dish for anytime we happen to be home for some reason. Though that's not likely to happen for a while.....

We had a whole lot of people stay over with us in 2007 to celebrate Oktoberfest here in our community (Kitchener ON Canada has the largest Oktoberfest festival in the world outside of Munich Germany). We had two couples stay in our 1993 Glendale Royal Classic 26' Class C for one of the weekends.

More recently, we rebuilt our house and lived in the same Class C from May 2011 to November 2013 ... yup 18 months covering two winters ... including one very very cold one.

Loved that Class C (it had a rare out the rear slide out) ... and we certainly got our money's worth from it. Sold it this past summer and bought our TC ... which we love.

We had a driveway campout a few weeks ago before the maiden voyage, it was great. Got to field-test the rebuilt roof corner, overcab bed, and new heater. Was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was (I'm 6'2'' so the ceiling & bed was juuuuust big enough). The cat heard us hanging out and jumped up on the truck to come in too.

We'll definitely do it again sometime, but not too soon, supposed to get a foot of show here today!

Before my adult kids had kids of their own, they used to like late, LATE-night poker parties at our house. While it's nice that the kids all enjoy each others' company - as the light sleeper in my family, I was kept awake. Even the "plink" of chips being tossed on the table woke me up, so I'd retreat to the RV for wonderful night's peace-and-quiet 🙂

Came inside this morning to some fresh coffee and an invitation to sleep back in the house. My sequestration may be over. At the very least we've both had some good solid nights' sleep so stress levels are back down to normal. Now I want to go out on a fishing trip, so time to start planning a trip to Choke Canyon or Amistad.

As has been said, you don't have to be overweight to have sleep apnea. If that is what you have, you are probably stopping breathing many times during the night. At least until your sleep study, your wife would be wise to be sleeping with you, stressed or not, so she can hear if you are having any breathing problems.

We've used our Lance as an extra suite for years. In fact, this week it will be used again as we will have more than a houseful. We can sleep 8 in beds in our home, but that's not enough this Thanksgiving week.

Your wife needs to do something about that stress.....it is a killer!!!

Only thing to be stressed over are life-death situations.

Work, job, traffic etc. etc. are NOT life-death.

She needs to learn 'Don't sweat the small stuff cause it's ALL small'

Stress will kill her......especially if she is getting as wind up as you depict.

I'm on call 24/7 and sometimes my cell phone is ringing all night. When I anticipate a busy night I will head out to the camper. The trouble is, I don't want to associate my camper with work. I think i'll put up a hammock in the garage.
