Lets beat on that horse again - new ford 6.7 track record

I am hopefully goiung to pick up a a new TV next year. I like to keep my stuff for 10 years. Currently have a 2008 CTD that other than emissions ( problem solved ) has treated me well but want something different. I really want a new F250/350 but I am pretty scared by their 6.7 - should I be?

I have owned 4 of the 6.7 PSD Ford since they came out in 2011 and just ordered my 5th one yesterday. NO problems at all out of any of these engines.

6.7 engine was designed to be able to do much more work without removing the cab as with prior Ford engines.

I went from a Ford Supercab to a Ram Crewcab, so I never had a fair back seat comparison - Front seat room for me is about the same, but the Ford cloth seats fit me better than Ram's. The Ford has a flat floor when the rear seat is folded up while the Ram has a storage tray and transmission hump in the way (higher trim levels of the Ram have a folding load floor that goes over the tray and hump).

Don't doubt that - I have seen the RAM's in my area for around 42-43K and Fords for 45-46K. I like the bigger cab on the F250 - backseat leg room seems bigger and I have a fast growing boy

There was about 7-10 percent price difference between my Ram 5500 Tradesman and the Ford F550 XL when I configured them with similar options and got back some dealer quotes. I don't remember the MSRP difference, but the Ford was higher.

The best deal for me when purchasing a 2014 was the Ram. Test drove the new 2017 ford, hmm, pretty nice truck.

Considering a new truck, it would be hard to stay away from the Ford, price kept me out of a new Ford in 2014, not so sure it would this next time around.

I guess it will come down what kinda deal I can strike next year. It appears on the net that the lower trim models ( tradesman and XL - what i'm interested in anyway) on the RAM and Ford are not too far off in price with maybe a 4-5% diff in premium for the ford.

Unless you are dead set on the Ford I would take the other to out for a test run too. The fourth gen Ram and GM twins are just as nice as the Fords IMO. Not sure when the new D-Max is do out but it is getting a bit out dated compaired to the 6.7's in the Ford and Ram.

From what I have heard Ford, has hit a Home Run with this very " Internationally sourced " engine.

I guess you could say it's Internationally Made as in Mexico.

I have to guess the new 2019 Ram trucks will also continue to be made in Mexico.

I don't own one but would if I needed one. We use them at work in our ambulances and grass trucks. Really good engines just a lot of work to gain access to unless u lift the cab. But have not seen may issues though, seem reliable, Ford did a great job on that engine.

No EGR as in no recirculating exhaust thru the engine. Everything will be after treatment. Improved mileage, HP and TQ to mane a few. 

Thanks for the info...trying to learn as much about diesels as possible. That would make a lot of sense to work the components this way as I believe that a lot of issues are due to EGR's and the fact that half the Ford motors need to be taken apart to get to them, correct? Not sure what the Chevy situation is?

It's even simpler than that. I like exactly what my wife tells me to like. Sure saves a lot of trouble!

It's much easier to adjust to a different badge on the grill than it is to sleeping on the couch!
