No harm done, but I thought I would share by d'oh moment. On my hot water heater, I needed to replace the element so I removed the plastic shroud and the element. While I had that open I decided to give it a good flush. Of course a bunch of calcified bits come out and I hosed those away from the outside of the heater tray. Went inside and for some reason decided to have a look at the heater from the inside and saw a pool of water all around. Of course my first thought is that the tank is cracked and I am going to be replacing it. After I cleaned up the water (which didn't make it's way far) and searched online how much new tanks cost, I went back outside and looked at it from the outside and saw my mistake - with the plastic should removed from the heating element, I was spraying water directly inside the trailer!!! D'oh!

Anyway, no harm and now I don't have to replace my tank. Just feel stupid!

Nope, I've been lucky enough to have never been married.

I say this as a joke. I know most people are married and happy to be so. It just never worked out for me and I'm happy to be single.

To each his own.

Now a word from the king of idiocy:

Always chock your trailer wheels before unhooking not matter how level the site looks, especially when your wife is inside the trailer! Always, Always, Always.

Also, you cannot stop a four ton trailer from rolling by grabbing the tongue jack. It also does not stop the screaming from inside the trailer.

Now when backing the trailer in, I am not allowed out of the truck seat until my wife sets the chocks.

DW goes around and opens and bleeds the hot and cold faucets and flushes the toilet. Good flow, no air, all is set. Open beer.
Later, DW says the hot water isn't hot, so I go to investigate. Yup, bypass valve still in winter position. WH is on electric by the way. Luckily, no damage was done. No way to begin a two-week trip.

I was changing the oil in DWs Infiniti last month, her pride and joy.
It was cold outside and I was in a hurry. After draining I pulled the drain pan out from under the car and was carrying the 6 qts. of dirty oil around the car towards the generator shed where I have a storage drum.

I forgot, didn't remember, excuse excuse, didn't see the floor jack holding the car up and tripped over it. 6 qts. of oil all over the Infiniti and I scratched the passenger side door with the drain pan.

Needless to say, I spent the next several hours cleaning up the mess in the cold and have spent the rest of the month in the dog house.

When I started reading this I though you were about to say the wife came out of the house and drove away with no oil in the car. 🙂

I had a friend who's wife did that once with there 74 Duster that had the Slant 6 engine. She made it about 15 miles before the engine completely froze up. Those Slant 6's were tough engines.

At least it didn`t take you 45 minutes and a volt/ohm meter and some disassembly to find out your propane tank was empty!

There was the one time when I was about an hour into my trip when I heard a lot of rattling and clunking noises coming from the back of the TV. I got out and noticed that I forgot to lock down the trailer receiver onto the ball and it has popped loose. Luckily this was back when I owned a PU and not a 5000 lb TT.

At least you didn't loose an eye in the process! :B

I procrastinated on winterizing my MH until the day the weather report predicted freezing rain turning into snow and 20 degrees.

I was out there in the freezing rain running around like crazy trying to winterize my MH.

I went to take the drain plug out of the hot water heater and that plug came flying out at my face like a guided missile. Damn near took my eye out.........I forgot to shut the water supply off before attempting to take the plug out. :S

Yup we have ALL been there done that at one time or another.

You mean, like the time I installed a new ceiling fan for the S&B before realizing that the breaker was tripped?

Oh well, it was due for an upgrade anyway. At least, that's what I tell myself so I don't feel so stupid :B
