Sooooo... Do you lock your door?

Well, do you..? when traveling down the road.

When traveling, we're in and out of the camper often. Locks are honest people deterrents, but we do use them when we go in the store, leave the camp site, etc. Never had a door open when we've forgotten to lock them, so just picking the brains of the many out of curiosity.

See, great questions stem from drinking good wine...

lol... awesome.

216 people live in Canada. You're married to one, which makes 16 of them direct relatives. Second cousins and their off spring cover another 92.

Co-workers between the two of you is another 15. 42 are in jail, leaving 49 people you need to worry about.

At any given time, 12 of them are working at a Tim Horton's with 18 patrons visiting, drinking coffee. Six cops are enroute to Tim Horton's, and two just left.

If you had a gun, you could easily defend yourself from the remaining 11 threats.

I'd move.

AWESOME response to a dumb answer....I love it....Dennis

I lock my door to prevent it from coming open, and lock it if I leave the area. I don't lock the deadbolt. I had a class A broken into one time at the storage lot. They did 1500 in damage for what they probably got 50 for. They broke the door window to bypass the door lock. I don't think it is going to happen at the current lot until they finish with the big class As and fivers.

I carry the keys anyway. I can't see why not.

Years ago I drove my bus conversion 20 miles on sand road to remote beach camp in Baja, Mexico.
Beside local fishermen, I found there only 1 camper with 3 Californians in it.
The owner of the camper told me that he spends his vacations in Mexico for decades and the only time he locks his camper is when greengos pull on the beach.
I live in the center of Bay Area (San Francisco) but in decent neighborhood and know people who never lock their house doors for last 25 years.
They don't use jewelry a lot, but being high-tech professionals do have bunch of computers at home.
1/2 acre lots give you privacy, but that works both ways.
So I would suggest specifying.

I usually lock the door if I'm not going to be around. Or turning in for the night. Lock the big window also .

I do for a couple reasons:

1. The lock only sets if the door is properly closed. So, by locking the door, I KNOW the door is really closed.

2. Locking the doors on any vehicle I'm driving prevents potential carjackers or thieves doing a "grab and go" at a stoplight, etc.

3. I have the dogs with me and don't want someone opening my door and letting them loose.

Yes. Saved me once. Went into pay for gas and when I came out there was a car driving away. They'd grabbed everything in the back of my truck (3 orange cones and wheel chocks) and the steps were down to my 5th wheel. If it had been unlocked I would have lost stuff for sure.
