That makes sense. We put it away for the summer. Our season will starts labor day and runs until Memorial Day. Try to skip the hot, wet, buggy summer.

We just returned from our 2nd longer trip of the year, and now just packing for some possible 1 or 2 nights for the rest, but we might be done also, depends on how the life shakes out over the next little while. We've had a good 29 nights for our first year so far, and enjoyed them all. I agree August sounds too early, but as I look at the schedule I wonder if I'll get out again myself. Hope so, at least once more.

The reason it is all cleaned inside and out and winterized and put away for the season is that we have been helping the daughter move to another house and now we have no camping partners and wife has calendar filled with grand child siting here and there. We also have a parent each that is 90 and older that need attention so we really have done our traveling and camping for the year.

I still have 5 pre-bought coupons for my favorite park. Plus, plan on attending other parks. Fall is a great time to go camping as the leaves change color on the trees. My rig is at a local park right now and I'm going out there tonight after work.

The season is just getting started! I usually do the majority of my camping between September and November. But this year with the new camper we've already been out many times during the summer. I usually winterize in mid-late November, depending on whether we have any early freezes or not. Now that I have a four season TT, I'm less worried about that.

Hey, I learned the hard way to put it away as clean as possible. Inside/outside, tanks, etc. Much more pleasant to get rolling in the spring. Did you remember to take the batteries out of the smoke alarms? They will beep, and then die. Hey, I don't fault the OP for putting it away early. He/she must know what is in store, for the rest of the season.

December thru Febuary will be the only time ours gets the water lines blown out. And that may happen more than once if the weather is warmer than normal those months. Love camping all year 'round.

It's not even Labor Day yet. Children aren't back in school yet.

Our highschooler has been back for a couple of weeks now. The college son goes back Monday. Some schools around me started July 29th. Crazy I know.

I agree way to earlier to close it up, we camp weekends and try to go around Christmas for a week somewhere. Just dump some pink stuff in during the time it is sitting.

Happy Camping.

I understand the lot of work if you wash, wax, clean inside and cover as part of your winterizing. Winterizing the plumbing, wet or dry method shouldn't take long.

That said, why so early? Granted, we're in Virginia, but we camp until the end of November or mid-December. We've been camping in snowstorms before, and it's actually a lot of fun. Hiking in the cold is awesome, and with the leaves off of the trees we see a lot more wildlife. You do need to plan ahead when it's that cold (heated underbelly and water on board so your hose doesn't freeze, etc.), but we wouldn't miss it.

"Lot of work" ?????

It takes me all of about ten minutes, and a little over a jug of pink stuff to do our 25 footer.

I'll do it the first time in mid October here at 3200 feet in the NC mountains, (just in case)
Then we'll dewinterize and re-winterize a few more times before we finally head to the Florida Keys right after Thanksgiving for our snow birding winter

It's not even Labor Day yet. Children aren't back in school yet.

I don't "winterize" until after November, and sometimes not even then, depending on how the football season went.

This year, I don't even plan on "winterizing". Late in the year, I'll blow out the water in the water lines, and put some anti freeze in the traps, but we plan on pulling out in mid to late February for a "Once in a Life Time" trip across this great country, all the way to California.

I'm in Ohio and we have trips planned out through late October. Coming from Oklahoma these Ohio days of 80 degree highs and 50 degree lows are wonderful! This is perfect camping weather to us.
