propane ?

For winter storage, do you fill your onboard propane tank, or just leave what's there till spring. Preference?

Since I'm able to park the MH just behind my home I refill the RV propane whenever it's down 25% so if we have a power outage I can run an extension cord from it to the house to run our home heating pellet stove, refrigerator, freezer and a few lights.

I fill ours, MH ready to go anytime. If I need emergency accomodations, it will warm up fairly quickly.

Yes, propane does not care .. winter/summer.... full/ or half...

my home had NG for heat.. and I have a 7k generac for when the electric is dead from storms off of Lake Erie.

Like suprz, we also have a wood stove in the house and have survived several power outages. We only fill the propane tank if it's low.

So if it's cold, and the power is out..... Well I had an option (run the house off the RV's Onan) but sans that moving into the RV for a while and burning propane instead of natural gas to keep warm would be a very nice option.

We luckily have a wood stove for heat so that wouldn't a issue, but I will most likely just fill it when I fill the gas tank for her winter slumber.. Just because " luck favors the prepared"

Where I lived and stored my RV good old Detroit Edison now known as DTE Energy was less than 100% reliable. In fact the power company where i grew up (Out on the farm) did a better job of keeping our lights on.

I use one tank at a time. That way, when it runs out, I start on the other. Then I fill up the one that's empty when we return. If possible, I try to have them full during the winter. But we keep ours at the house. We have electric heat at home. If we get a bad ice storm and power goes out for a few days, we can always stay in the camper under generator power and LP heat. Its like our storm shelter.

I keep mine full, but only because come spring, I want to be able to flip the water heater bypass valves, flush out the water system and hit the road. I don't want to have to mess with ONE MORE THING to slow down my exit from Dodge.

But as others have pointed out, it won't hurt a thing leaving it empty or partially filled all winter.

I like to keep our LP tank full for traveling purposes, but as said, there's no need for storage purposes. A partially filled LP tank is not subject to condensation build-up the way a gasoline or diesel tank can if not kept full.

I always top ours off after the last trip of the season before winterizing...then they are ready to go for the next season and I don't have to remember if they are filled or not...

(Honey, do we need propane, did we fill those tanks in the fall....:h)

We really don't do winter storage, but will top off tanks on return from any trip, so they are always full.
