So what are your plans for 2017?

I've been planning a trip for the last two years and health and grandkids and life just got in the way. Cross our fingers, it looks like we are a go for Feb 2017 and if all goes well, we will leave Washington and keep driving south until we hit some warm and then hug the warm until warm turns to hot and then and only then head home. Hope to see as many State and National Parks as time will allow.

What are your plans for next year? Anything special?

Two weeks in Norway (yes, Scandinavia) in August. Not having a camper allows us to do more extensive traveling but no where near as often. Miss the lifestyle but not dealing with the headaches.

July, August and September touring the upper East Coast from Blue Ridge Parkway to upper Maine. Little nervous due to all the horror stories I have heard.

Don't want to hi-jack the thread, but what horror stories? Roads? Weather? Maybe some of us can help put your mind at ease (maybe in another thread?).

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be

Not at all sure. After several years of being free to roam for months at a time, it looks as if we have a tough year coming up. DH is looking at some time-consuming medical procedures, we are planning on selling one of our homes, and we are probably going to have to arrange care for a disabled family member. We have a new RV (a Class B+/C-) that we bought in Sept in anticipation of a different lifestyle. I can drive it and set it up by myself so I think we can keep traveling when the opportunity arises. I will be keeping an eye on all of you who are in the road. lizzie

January Retire, Buy Toy Hauler. Have it picked out so just need to negotiate the price. Already own the F550 and AirSafe 2K hitch.

Take 4 weeks and head where ever I feel like. To be determined. Once the weather warms up a trip up the west coast to visit son in Olympia Wa.

Got a pretty full schedule planned for 2017:

April: Turkey hunting in Shawnee National Forrest
May: MO State Trapshooting Championships, Indianapolis 500
June: U.S. Open and Illinois State Trapshooting Championships
August: Grand American Trapshooting Championships
September: MO Fall Handicap Championships, Labor Day Weekend in Hanibal, WSRC Fall Classic Trapshoot

And we'll throw in several weekend trips with friends.

Hey - thanks for mentioning the Balloon Fest! Just got a couple days reservations... :B

This spring we are heading south to Mammoth Cave, Nashville, the Natchez Trace, New Orleans, and Gulf Shores. On the way back home we will visit friends and relatives as well as checking out some Civil Rights history.

This will be our very first year of retirement with no need to get back to work! Yee-haa!

If things go as we hope, we will attend a rally in Shawnee. Then go to Las Vegas to visit, from there to San Diego. That will start a Pacific Coast Road tour that will run to Port Townsend. How we get home from there is still open.

What I didn't say when I wrote this was that east from Washington was to be two pistol and one rifle match.....
California has just enacted laws that make taking these pieces and ammunition into California a big NoNo. They have seem to have de-certified the good old "Peaceable Transit" rules. So I am forbidden to have these pieces, magazines and a reasonable amount of target grade ammunition in the state. That means that either I don't get to my matches or we don't do the coast road. Can't do both now.....
I am going to look into alternatives, but none have come up that I can actually afford.
Sorry California, maybe next life.

we will be getting away to fish every weekend as soon as ice off and turnover are done.probably a month long trip mid july to mid aug.as usual.we may make up as far as the yukon this time.

Spend lots of weekends at the lake. Go to Branson a few times. Go to Oshkosh for two weeks in July.

Visit with some snowbirds in Lower Alabama in January. Volunteer for March and April at a Georgia State Park. In July we leave for 3 months to head up to Manitoba and Saskatchewan. That trip was planned for 2015 but got delayed by the birth of our 2nd grandson.

It should be a great year RVing.
