Paul, good for you! What engine does the Suburban have? The early GM diesels (350, 6.2) were thought to be frought with trouble by many.We would all like to hear how yours has been a winner!
Max

The GM 350 cu. in. (5.7L) Diesel was used mostly in Cadillacs and Oldsmobiles; there were a few Suburbans built with that engine.

The notorious problems with that engine were due to an "ID-Ten-T" error.

My '81 Olds Cutlass had that engine and I drove it for over 250,000 miles with no problems. I sold it in '99 and it is still on the road.

The engine in my Suburban is the Detroit 6.2L Diesel and has almost 500,000 miles on it.

Paul,
I bought the first 6.2 Chevy Pickups from our local dealer. Pulled our TT to dog shows and hauled my sled dogs in the winter. Of all the vehicles I have ever had, that is the one I wish I had kept. Thanks for the memories.

Does my 1959 VW buggy pulling a utility trailer count? It runs a later model bus transmission with hub reducers.

04 Suburban 2500, 8.1L, 3.73 and 203K+ on the clock. Original engine and tranny...keeping fingers crossed they stay that way since it is Paid-In-Full and new(er) ones are NOT CHEAP!

My tow vehicle used to be a 1994 Dodge Ram 3500 CTD dually. It was licensed for 14K GVW, and towed a 32 foot triple slide fiver at a GCW of 21,180 lbs.
It had 276,000+ miles on it when I gave it to my son.
If I do any towing these days, I guess it would be with the "toy truck" in my sig. That 360 V8 with 4.10 3/4 ton axles should tow anything I am likely to hook on to these days.
