Has anyone had an experience with a RV awning shade kit? I'm talking about the type that fastens to the awning and gets staked to the ground.

RV Awning Shade

I have bought 2 of these from Amazon and they are a LOT cheaper and different sizes. They are longer too. They go all the way to the ground.

I DO put stakes in the ground but then attach bungee cords for some flexibility when it is windy. This helps secure my awning when it is windy.

We have both the main and end sunblockers. They do an excellent job and you can easily see through them. We use them quite a bit when stationary for the winter in Florida or other states.

We have the Carefree one for the front. We also put up patio lights in the slot. So we put grommets in the awning just below the part that slides into the awning rail. Spaced them to the lights spacing. So we put up lights and then hang the awning behind lights. You can see thru during the day and when lights are on others can see you. Makes it very easy to put up any time you want. We can also roll it up in place when not needed.

We have a carefree, blue mesh that is fairly easy to put up. I just have to remember to attach it before I raise the awning. Some campgrounds won't let you put stakes in the ground, but ours is heavy enough, the wind doesn't push it around. Really makes for good shade and some extra privacy, (if needed).

Too bad all of you can't stop by a dog show because the vendors there sell the exact same ones that start at $100.00 and go up for WAY less. Usually around 60% less. There is a big mark up on those ""RV"" sun shades. :W

rockhill and riven, are you able to see through the material? Thanks.

I think the brand we used was Coolaroo. It is not solid material. It is similar to the commercial shades from CW etc. , so I would say yes you can see through it. Better from the users side than the neighbors side. Not clear obviously, but kind of like privacy screen wire.

It comes in different % of protection from the sun. Higher % less see through. I think ours is 87%. Really helps with the sun and good for privacy. Lightweight, stores easily, we love it.

We have one that I believe is 16 X 6 and just used it during our Halloween weekend stay. Very easy to use, yes you can see through it, does knock down the sun and reduces the temp. Easy to store / clean. Have only needed it twice in two years and was glad to have it!

I like the Carefree Sun Blocker with the side blocker.

They come in 4 colors,I picked Blue, and are easy to install, just slide into the awning channel and stake down. They give you shade and don't block the view that much and the breeze can still get thru.

Here on the left coast with our south and west facing beaches these are just what is needed to really enjoy camping at the beach and not get baked.

I might know something about those things.

This one is made by Shadepro. We bought it specifically for this CG. We spend about a month there each year and the sun can be be overwhelming at times.

I use a mesh tarp from Harbor Freight and hang it on my awning using the little hanger pictured in another post here, works great lowers the temp under the awning a lot when the sun is on that side of the 5er. ๐Ÿ™‚
