Camping trips with themes

A recent thread spoke of traveling to US cities named after cities in other countries. We took trips to visit planetariums around the country and went to star parties (an astronomy thing). Are there others here who do "themed" RVing?

Here's one that children may find interesting too as it's like a treasure hunt.

Not yet but retiring in 18 - 24 mths and plan on visiting at least 48 state capitals.

Over a two year span back in the 60s we visited lighthouses. Great tour.

We have seen most of the hydro electric dams in BC. This took us two summers. Still a few left. We have toured many of them. My girls age 4 and 8 love them. This year we have made a point of stopping at small town museums if they are open. We are also on a mission to stay in as many provincial campgrounds in BC as we can. Not planning our days around this but we are keeping track. Both of us are teachers so we have the time. Fun stuff.

Yup. In the spring we dd the Kentucky burbon trail. That was fun! Beautiul area too. We took all side roads ate in little towns. Still drinking the souvenirs!

Has anyone ever done a whiskey-related trip? I've visited the Jack Daniels distillery in Tennessee, but not on a camping trip.

Also, how about a NASA-related trip? There are facilities all over the country. I've visited Cape Kennedy (FL) and Goddard (MD) while camping but not on the same trip. We also visited a small NASA museum on the DelMarVa penninsula (can't remember the name).

Camping at Codorus State Park. Came here to visit Gettysburg for the 150th. Today walked with thousands of others on a retracing of Picket's charge. Once in a lifetime experience. This is making history!

We didn't plan on it, but when we went up the eastern coast in 2011, there were many states celebrating the coming of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. There was so much history to learn, and there are many free tours. Gettysburg was amazing. We're now visiting Springfield, Illinois, Land of Lincoln, and find that the celebrations continue.

Cheyenne,Wy is a good place to drive on the Lincoln hiway.
Also the visitors center on south I25 is one of the neatest I've been at.
