My wife and I don't understand. We are staying at a nice rv park filled with nice rv's. We watched a man get out of his perfictly nice class C and go use the parks public shower. I know everyone is different and I am not judging his action. We just don't get why you would use a public facility when you have your own?

We have not taken a shower and have stopped to use restrooms, at welcome centers, instead, of using ours, when on the final leg to home. I think we used a campground's facilities, instead of ours, once because we were headed west and didn't know how many nights we might spend dry camping. One reason I would love to have larger tanks in the MH.

I always use campground showers or bathrooms if they are clean and not too far away. In the RV shower is fine, however I like more elbow room and soak in hot water for 20 minutes without worrying of running out of hot water too soon.

Wow I have to say I am a little shocked that some folks seem to be upset by my question. I was just curious, I wasn't judging anyone. Just wanted to hear other opinions. One of the main reasons we own a RV is to avoid using public facilities. As to why we were watching? We were sitting in our site which was on the path to the bathhouse. There have been several comments that we are odd for watching our neighbours. What kind of a world do you want to live in that people don't smile and say Hi to folks as they walk by?

Its tone I guess. You last sentence:
"We just don't get why you would use a public facility when you have your own? "

is in the same tone as:
"I just don't get why you would care if I use a public facility when I have my own?".

maybe he had to go to the bathroom real bad and didn't want the paint and wallpaper to fall off the walls.

I would imagine the main reason you have your rv is so you can stay in an rv park or campground and that you don't have to sleep on the floor or get wet during a rainstorm and pack it up wet. Not to use the bathroom or take a shower.

So why pay to stay in a park that has the faciliities if you aren't going to use them? You could save a whole bunch of money dry camping somewhere without facilities.

We have a smaller Class C: smaller gray tank, and our shower serves as our "pantry". If needed, I will unload it and take a Navy Shower - but I can't really shave my legs. My "motorhome showers" *might* be the cause of certain Sasquatch sightings....

I can think of a few reasons:
*keeps the onboard shower cleaner so saves someone some work
*leaves the onboard shower for the lady of the house
*without full hook-ups saves moving the rig to refill with fresh and dump waste tanks

I use the campground showers so my hair has time to dry on the walk back to the MH. :R

I'll use a clean CG shower when I'm not on full hookups. Clean is the important word. The less times I have to lug my tote to the dump station, the better.

Read about half the responses and not sure if this was covered. But another reason to use the campground showers is because you paid for it. Most RV parks/campgrounds charge you whether you use it or not. So why not? Otherwise you are wasting your money. Lol
